This section is a part of the chapter: Biochemical pH Buffer Standards of the Zwitterionic Buffer TES (N-Tris-(Hydroxymethyl) Methyl- 2-Aminoethanesulfonic Acid) from 5℃ to 55℃
The universally used NIST-certified physiological phosphate primary standard buffer solution has pH values of 7.415 and 7.395 at and , respectively. This phosphate buffer contains and . Because of problems associated with the current phosphate buffer we have been prompted to investigate some zwitterionic buffers including TES for use in the physiological pH range 6.5-7.5.
